What to Expect When You Work With Build Partners: Our Construction Recruitment Client Onboarding Process

Hiring through a recruitment partner should reduce workload for the client, not create another project to manage. Build Partners keeps onboarding intentionally straightforward so the focus stays on the hire itself.

Step 1: Tell us who you need

Start with the basics: job title, location, project type and why the position is open. If you already have a job description, send it. If you do not, that is not a problem.

A short conversation is often enough to uncover the information that matters most: what the person will build, what they need to have done before, who they report to and what success looks like in the first year.

Step 2: Align on the search brief

We then define the non-negotiables and the areas where the client can be flexible. For a Superintendent, that may include ground-up versus renovation experience, sector, travel and project size. For a PM, it may include cost ownership, client exposure and project type. For an Estimator, it may include hard-bid versus negotiated work, subcontractor relationships and preconstruction scope.

We also discuss compensation, benefits, timing and the strongest reasons a candidate should consider the opportunity.

Step 3: Agree how we will work together

Once the commercial terms and search expectations are agreed, Build Partners can begin the market search. We do not require clients to complete an unnecessarily long onboarding process before we start understanding the talent pool.

Step 4: We search the market

Our consultants map relevant companies and candidates, use direct outreach, referrals and existing construction networks, and speak with both active and passive talent.

The search is built around the client's actual requirement rather than a broad database keyword match.

Step 5: Review qualified candidates

We present candidates who have been spoken to and assessed against the agreed brief. The objective is a focused shortlist with useful context, not a large volume of resumes.

Step 6: Interview and hire

We coordinate interviews, collect feedback, keep candidates informed and help manage the offer process. If concerns around compensation, timing or competing interviews arise, we raise them early.

What clients do not need before contacting us

You do not need a perfectly written job description, a finished interview scorecard or a lengthy internal recruitment pack before starting the conversation. If the need is real, we can help structure the search around it.
